Diwali, is one of the famous festival in India. This festival is to light clay oil lamps in homes, also burning of crackers too is considered significant during the festival. Diwali is considered a national festival in India and Nepal.

Diwali is popularly known as the “festival of lights”, the most significant spiritual meaning is “the awareness of the inner light”.

This festival all people visit their friends and relatives and also invite everyone in their homes and offer them different types of delicacies which are the specialy of Diwali.

Diwali is an important festival in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism. Diwali festival is an official holiday in India, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Mauritius, Malasiya, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Fiji and Surinam.

In Hinduism, Diwali marks the return of Lord Rama to his kingdom of Ayodhya after defeating (the demon king) Ravana, the ruler of Lanka, in the epic Ramayana. It also celebrates the slaying of the demon king Narakasura by Lord Krishna. Both signify the victory of good over evil. In Jainism, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha by Mahavira in 527 BC. In Sikhism, Diwali commemorates the return of Guru Har Gobind Ji to Amritsar after freeing 52 Hindu kings imprisoned in Fort Gwalior by Emperor Jahangir; the people lit candles and diyas to celebrate his return. This is the reason Sikhs also refer to Diwali as Bandi Chhorh Divas, “the day of release of detainees”.

Surat-based Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Institute of Technology (SNVIT) has already been appointed to carry out geological and geo-technical survey of the site at Sadhu Bet, three kilometres from the Narmada Dam.

Narendra Modi Said, “The statue will stand for the ideals of Sardar Patel.”

Narendra Modi’s plan is to involve top Gujarati industrialists, non-resident Indians and other moneybags to fund it, as he believes they will all be “interested in helping the project of international importance”.

Gujarat Congress President Siddharth Patel contended that the BJP was only doing this to garner votes and that it was an “insult” to Sardar Patel.

The Congress took strong objection to it terming it to be a violation of the poll code and as a last ditch effort by Modi to escape a defeat in the Municipal Corporation Elections. The party has taken up the matter with the Election Commission, saying BJP is using Sardar Patel’s name to make political gains.
