Harbhajan Singh, the hero of the second Test victory in Kolkata, has missed the first two games to take part in his sister’s wedding ceremony. Yuvraj Singh (wrist) and Gautam Gambhir (groin) are also present for the hosts.
Left arm of the seamer were out of the last day of the second Test against South Africa at Eden Gardens Thursday after he broke his leg the earlier day.
“Zaheer has suffered a strength injure in his leg and has been ruled out of ODI series against South Africa, says BCCI. He will be replaced by Shantha Sreesanth.”
World champions Australia is opportunely located on the top with 134 points, India 121 and South Africa 119 will battle it out for second place.
For South Africa, Captain Graeme Smith is the only major absent after his finger injury which he continued during the test series and was forced to return. Jacques Kallis will guide South Africa in the absence of Graeme Smith.
It helped the hosts to keep the top spot in ICC Test rankings, but South Africa can move over India in the ODI rankings if they win the best-of-three limited overs series 2-1 or better.
Hashim Amla, top scorer in the test series was not in the beginning part of a day squad, but is now in for Smith. Opening batsman Herschel Gibbs, off-spinner Roelof van der Merwede and fast bowler Albie Morel – all with Indian Premier League contracts – have also been brought in to add force to the tourists go to the first game in Jaipur.
