South Africa coach Arthur resigns from post

South Africa coach Mickey Arthur has resigned from his post a few days before the Proteas leave for a tour of India.

The 41-year-old has been at the front position of South Africa’s national team since May 2005, and his shock acceptance Tuesday has forced the Proteas to mount Corrie van Zyl as temporary coach for the two Tests and three One-Day International tour.

Talk Radio 702 this morning announced that Arthur had left his location because of the shatter with Captain Graeme Smith.

Van Zyl, who was supporter national coach from 1998-2003, is at the helm of South Africa’s High Performance Center, but will take dependability for the upper hand in the run up to the first test, starts in Nagpur 6 February.

“The timing is very unlucky with a thrilling two-Test tour to India coming up, but the international cricket calendar these days means that there is never a good time,” Arthur said Tuesday.

But all good things must come to an end, and now it is time for others to take over, “he said.

In his day Arthur led South Africa to a series victory, England and a test series accomplishment in Australia for the first time.

“The real reason for Arthur departure is unclear today. There is an extensive observation of a weakening relationship protea skipper Graeme Smith was the means. There is agreement on the relationship between the two is permanent, asks Arthur to call it a day” said Station.

Arthur was not available for comments made.
