When Verizon launched the Motorola Droid cell phone, it drew a lot of attention. There was talk that it could be an iPhone killer.
This phone is a great buy for $99.

The phone comes with an 8 GB memory card but can support up to 16 GB. It was easy to drag and drop other files as well. phone performed much better, lasting at least 24 hours with moderate use before the low battery sign came on.
The Eris is narrower than and just as thin as the latest iPhone. There is no physical keyboard, but the phone vibrates lightly when you type using the touch screen or press one of the four touch sensitive buttons at the bottom—home, back, menu and search.
I also enjoyed customizing the Eris with different “scenes” or home screens—each with a different backdrop. This way, I could set shortcuts for news sites and my calendar and use a plain background while at work, but use a brighter background and have easier access to shortcuts Pandora and Twitter when I was home or with friends.
Music wasn’t as easy to figure out. In theory, you can download music and other files onto the phone’s memory card, which works as a USB drive when connected to a computer. But I couldn’t intuitively figure out how to switch to USB mode after plugging the phone into my computer. After reading the manual, I learned I had to drag down a hidden notifications menu from the top of the screen and select “USB connected” and then “”Mount,” for it to appear as a removable drive on my computer. The company says a few extra steps are needed to get the computer to recognize the phone as a USB drive, instead of a phone.
